Rangoon American Center
Rangoon American Center is a LEED Gold-certified building, designed with regional materials and traditional craftsmanship to serve Burmese citizens studying American language and culture, featuring a library, classrooms, multi-purpose spaces, media rooms, and a café.
This project features the design of a new American Cultural Center in Rangoon, created as a resource for Burmese citizens studying American language and culture. The facility includes a library, classrooms, multi-purpose spaces, media rooms, and a café. The design integrates regional materials to maintain a connection with Burmese culture and context, with fine filigree screens that filter sunlight, offer views to the exterior, subdivide interior spaces, and recall traditional Burmese craftsmanship. The project was developed to meet LEED Gold requirements, ensuring a sustainable and environmentally friendly design. The center aims to foster cultural exchange and understanding between the United States and Burma. It also serves as a community hub, hosting events, workshops, and exhibitions that celebrate the diverse cultural heritage of both nations.
