Tea Bar Cafe
Propel Studio developed the interior architecture and collaborated with the owner on the design of Tea Bar café, creating a simple elegant modern aesthetic.
The project was within an old run-down building in the vibrant NE neighborhood, that was currently being renovated. The client requested for a simple, minimalist, yet elegant design that would be warm, bright and inviting to their commercial space. The design made use of existing features, exposing the historic wood beams along the ceiling while repairing and sealing the existing concrete floor to give the space character – accenting elements of the old building. All of the tables and bar top surfaces are crafted from maple butcher block to create a warm ambiance. The rest of the space was finished out in white to maintain a light feeling deep inside of the space. With assorted teas imported from around the world, with an emphasis on Asian specialty teas, we drew on inspiration from the elegance of Japanese design. The white minimalist café space is accented with the warmth of wood, creative light fixtures and decorative plants.
